Richard Thomas, 22, also threatened to stab a second victim unless she had sex with him while he was on the run after the first offence
A sex attacker who wept and apologised while raping a woman and threatened to stab a teenager unless she had sex with him has been jailed for nine years.
Richard Thomas, 22, befriended his first victim, 20, in Bolton town centre in June last year.
After spending the day together, in the early hours of the next morning he led her through Queen’s Park, where he shoved her to the ground and raped her.
At one point he stopped to apologise and cry - but then he continued the sickening attack.
Thomas, of Kingsfold Close, Bolton, was arrested later that day and charged in February this year, but skipped bail in May when he failed to turn up to a court hearing.
Police issued a warrant for his arrest, but it was not until a month later that he was caught after sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.
