Nasarawa State Government has denied allegations that it has refused to pay salaries to state workers until the ongoing biometric exercise was completed. The government, however, apologized to workers in the state over its inability to pay salaries before the Sallah holiday, which is slated for today and tomorrow. The Accountant General of the state, Mohammed Musa, told newsmen in Lafia, yesterday, that the non-payment of salaries before Sallah was due to the delay in holding the Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, meeting. He said the meeting was held on Tuesday and would require three working days for the money to be released to states by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. Secretary to the State Government, Hajiya Zanaib Ahmed, also appealed to workers to bear with the government and assured that as soon as the money was sent to the state, salaries would be paid, but not before Sallah.
