Firdous Khatun, 36, welcomed her 9th child at Raja Ram Kalawati Hospital in Orai, Uttar Pradesh. The boy is now India’s heaviest baby, weighing almost 7kg. Despite his big size, he surprised everyone by coming out smoothly in a normal delivery which took just 15 minutes. Mrs Khatun weighs 77.5 kg and had given birth to all 8 of her children at home. But her husband, Kadir Raza, 40, was forced to rush her to the nearest hospital after she entered labour. All her previous babies weighed a normal 3.6kg. Dr Anjana Gupta, who delivered the child, said: “He is a miracle baby. In my 21 years of experience, I had never seen a new-born as big as him. We could not believe how, despite his big size, he smoothly came out.”
