Abuja - A Benue lecturer has reportedly been murdered by his wife after it was discovered that he had been engaging in extramarital affairs.
Godwin Abuul, A Theatre Arts educator at the College of Education in Oju, is said to have been found dumped in the River Katsina following his disappearance two weeks ago.
A family source who spoke on condition of anonymity explained how the deceased went missing and how a young man who was arrested after the discovery of his body confessed to the man being killed by his wife in connivance with her siblings.
“His confession triggered the arrest of several persons including the wife of the deceased and mother of his two children and all those mentioned in the saga, by the Police in Gboko, though the matter has been transferred to the Command Headquarters in Makurdi for further investigations.”
The wife of the deceased, who's name has been withheld, is said to have confessed about her involvement in the matter, claiming that her brothers beat her husband up following her revelation of his infidelity, Nigeria Today reports.
While claiming that her intention was never to kill her husband, the woman explained further how she had his body dumped in the river and sold off his car for N650,000.
Police have since confirmed the matter and stated that they cannot confirm whether or not the woman was behind the murder.
