Father Impregnates 16-year-Old Daughter and Aborts Pregnancy; Claims He was “Testing His Ability”

Vanguard reports that a 36-year-old man identified as Peter Kennedy has been arrested by the police for impregnating his 16-year-old daughter and also aborting the pregnancy.

Peter had reportedly been sleeping with his daughter since 2013 until his neighbour notified the police after he allegedly slept with his daughter again on Friday, July 8. The victim was said to have been taken to Mirabel Centre at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for tests after the case was reported to the police.

Also detained by the police was Kennedy’s wife and step-mother to the victim after it was discovered she had been aware of the continuous molestation of the victim by her husband. According to her, the suspect told her he wanted to test his (sexual) abilities.

The Coordinator of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi stated that the case was reported to the team on Tuesday, forcing government to attach social workers from Ministry of Youth and Social Development to follow up on the case. Vivour-Adeniyi also disclosed that the victim is being kept in government custody for protection.

The case has reportedly been transferred to the Gender Desk of the Commissioner of Police’s office, for further investigation.
