Queen Elizabeth is dead. The reigning monarch just celebrated her 90th birthday a few months ago, but old age and fraility led her to peaceful passing. The question is, who will sit on the throne now? As the palace scrambles to prepare the Queen’s wake and prepare Britain for mourning, it has to be decided soon who will be ruling next.
Does the news sound so incredulous? This is because it is. It seems like royals are not immune to death hoaxes these days.
A report from what looks a reputed news site reads that Buckingham Palace has issued a press statement saying, “with the greatest sadness, at about 3.15pm, our beloved monarch Queen Elizabeth II passed away. Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, in London. She will be missed but not forgotten.”
While this news could easily be true, seeing that the Queen is already 90 years of age, it is actually a hoax that is being spread by a fraudulent news site called “The Guard1an“.
While people can easily mistake this site for the reputed and legitimate news website, “The Guardian”, it is actually a cheap copy-cat, dishing out fake news in order to attract traffic.
Queen Elizabeth Death Hoax
The reasons cited for Queen Elizabeth II’s demise is listed as “bad cough” and “chest infection” by the fake news report, which further confirms the fact that it’s just a silly hoax meant to cause panic among the public.
The alleged announcement by the Buckingham Palace is also copied verbatim from the press release during Queen Mother Elizabeth’s death back in March 2002. According to ABC News, the statement released at the time of Queen Elizabeth’s death said, “Her beloved mother, Queen Elizabeth, died peacefully in her sleep this afternoon, at Royal Lodge, Windsor.”
Hence, Queen Elizabeth II, who is the reigning monarch of the U.K., Canada, New Zealand and Australia, is very much alive and healthy at the moment and officials at the Buckingham Palace are not scrambling to pass her crown to the next in line an time soon.
This is just another death hoax, which has claimed so many victims before this, for example, Jaden Smith and Rowan Atkinson.
