Hollywood smash Ocean's Eleven had to be hastily edited in the wake of the 9/11 attacks - to delete scenes of a hotel being brought down by explosives, it's emerged.
The George Clooney remake of the classic 1960 'Rat Pack' heist film was released exactly 15 years ago this week.
In the version which made the cinemas, its stars Andy Garcia and Julia Roberts watch as a Vegas hotel is demolished - with Clooney and Matt Damon in the background.
But it's been revealed that this memorable scene originally depicted the New York, New York Hotel and Casino being destroyed.
Producers decided - in the wake of the attack on the Twin Towers in New York just three months before the film's worldwide release - that it would be completely inappropriate to screen.
News.com.au reports that it "looked too much like the devastating collapse of the World Trade Center".
It reports that that, with some hasty digital editing, the backdrop of the demolished buildings was changed just ahead of release - with a new 'fake hotel' called ‘The Xanadu’ replacing the New York, New York hotel.
