Plane crashes at Swiss airport leaving hundreds of Arsenal fans stranded after 'near miss with British Airways flight'

Hundreds of Arsenal football fans have been stranded in Switzerland after a plane crashed at an airport - and reportedly just missed a British Airways flight on the runway.
Reports say Basel Airport has been closed for the night following the light plane crash during fog this evening.
British Airways flight BA749 was reportedly on the runway at the time and was due to depart at 5.15pm local time.
About 150 to 200 Arsenal fans are said to have been on a Ryanair flight also due to leave the airport this evening.

The BA flight was holding short of runway 15 in fog when a Piper PA-34 Seneca II was on final approach to that runway, Aeroinside reports.
But the PA-34 went around, did not climb out and crashed to the left of the runway and burst into flames.
"The A320 crew advised tower that the aircraft on the go around had just about cleared their flight deck passing overhead their aircraft," the aviation website said.
"Tower confirmed seeing the PA-34 "really low" overflying the A320, tower apologized that the A320 needed to wait now."
Emergency Services reported one body was recovered from the PA-34, the website said.
About 150 to 200 Arsenal fans were left stranded after attending a Champions League match yesterday.
Arsenal beat FC Basel 4-1 in the match.
The Times sports journalist Stuart Fraser said on social media the fans were aboard his Ryanair flight.
"Stuck on a Ryanair plane on the tarmac along with around 150-200 Arsenal fans heading home after Basel airport is closed," he tweeted.
"The crew on the BA flight waiting by the runway have reported that the small aircraft 'just about' cleared their flight deck overhead."
There are reports of debris on the runway at the airport.
Airlive reported that the airport expected to remain closed all night.
